I have a fascination with these new LED displays. The one on my MacBook is awesome and images look really clear and crisp. So i love having nice background photos of stuff. In this one I took and image from The Climber Magazine and played around with Tilt-Shift editing in PS.

A nice panorama of my field area. Great contrast and scale. The original image is 70mb large so it was reduced to fit. This is between Kaikura and Hanmer Srpings - Upper Waiau valley. Enjoy

Taupo Volcanic Zone

The present day plate boundary between the Pacific and Australian plates results in what is known as the Taupo Volcanic Zone. A NE trending series of volcanoes and calderas that form one of the most active volcanic regions in the world.

The photos are a compilation from out post-graduate 2008 trip.

Christchurch has some of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen in my life. The best ones form when there is a cloud over the city and the sun illuminates it's bottom side as it sets. This example is just one of the nicer sunset photos.

Some black and white photography of skiing in New Zealand. The ski tracks and the clear skies make for good contrast. And the kids were just amazing, we played around for ages just taking photos and giving each other high fives. Good times. Enjoy.

Abra Drivers of Dubai

Roads

There is something about roads that makes them attractive to photographers. Maybe its the simplicity of straight lines or the complex patters of its curves. In any case, roads photograph well. This one is from Milford Sound. The simple curvature is what does it for me.

You might think this is a stupid photo, but i think it does the trick. A photo taken on one of my trips. It started to snow in the middle of the night. I pointed the camera up and flashed the sky.
I like for its simplicity.

My Family

My mum decided we should have a family portrait. So instead of designing the usual group photo of everyone together i decided to do something different. The one image below representing the 4 of us. Each photo was meant to represent the most common association with that persons' personality - kind of...

One day returning from golf, i threw my golf hat onto the couch, and it landed on my stuffed sheep. It just looked sooo good i needed to take a picture of it. Oh yeah, the sheep's name is Goldie :)

Pollution in Dubai

I took a boat ride out to sea in the morning, where you could nicely see an orange blanket of haze that rests over populated areas of Dubai. The colors on these images have been pumped up just to see the difference between clear air and pollution. The worst thing is ... when you're IN the haze it just seems like normal air... (cough cough)

It doesn't happen often. It usually comes a day or two in a year. This year it came and it didn't go away for 3 days.

Rain.

Up to a meter of water. Dubai is flat, has no rivers, no depressions, no reason for water to accumulate. It happened for one simple reason. The drains don't work. Why ? Because they don't drain. They are just holes in the road.

The pictures below are not mini lakes. Its out road...

A lot of climbers have this thing, where they find a route that they like a lot. It becomes their project to climb at some point. I found something similar on one of my climbing trips around New Zealand. It's called Protoplasm and it has a lot of dynamic moves. It's my project. Photos are courtesy of David H. Editing is by me.

My sister wanted a nice picture for her facebook account so I helped a little bit. In the course of two days we climbed up onto the roof of the house and took some pictures. We had fun posing as well as enjoying the scenery. Take a look and enjoy.

(at one point we got so into portraits that we forgot what was behind us. This image has not been edited. That is what the sky actually looked like. I took 5 different panoramas to capture the sky just right. i like it for its scale)

Welcome to my second blog,

I am a keen photographer and have been taking pictures for quite some time now. I've been posting them online, but have never dedicated any effort in posting only stuff that is really good. It's usually be-shadowed by generic quick snap photos.

This is why this blog exists. To post only the good pictures.
